🚨 Two Children Die in Drowning Incident – Wabigoon River, Dryden, Ontario
Members of the Dryden Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a tragic drowning incident that claimed the lives of two children on Thursday, July 31, 2025.
At approximately 4:10 p.m., officers responded to a report of two youths entering the Wabigoon River in the City of Dryden. A 15-year-old male and a 12-year-old female reportedly entered the water and did not resurface.
Emergency personnel, including the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), Dryden Fire Service, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS), responded to the scene. Both children were located and recovered from the water by responders and transported to hospital, where they were sadly pronounced deceased.
The identities of the victims are not being released at this time out of respect for the family’s privacy.

🚨 Deux enfants décèdent dans un incident de noyade – Rivière Wabigoon, Dryden, Ontario
Les membres du détachement de Dryden de la Police provinciale de l’Ontario (PPO) enquêtent sur un tragique incident de noyade qui a coûté la vie à deux enfants le jeudi 31 juillet 2025.
Vers 16 h 10, la PPO a été appelée après que deux jeunes aient été vus entrant dans la rivière Wabigoon dans la ville de Dryden. Un garçon de 15 ans et une fille de 12 ans n’ont pas refait surface après être entrés dans l’eau.
Le groupe d’intervention d’urgence de la PPO (ERT), les pompiers de Dryden et les services médicaux d’urgence (SMU) sont intervenus. Les deux enfants ont été retrouvés et repêchés par les intervenants, puis transportés à l’hôpital, où leur décès a été confirmé.
Les noms des victimes ne sont pas rendus publics par respect pour la vie privée des familles.
