🚨 Toronto Police Investigating Homicide After 8-Year-Old Boy Fatally Shot
The Toronto Police Service is making the public aware of a homicide investigation.
On Saturday, August 16, 2025, at approximately 12:27 a.m., police responded to reports of gunshots in the Martha Eaton Way and Trethewey Drive area.
It is reported that:
- officers arrived and located an 8-year-old boy in his residence who had been struck by a stray bullet
- life-saving measures were initiated and the victim was transported to hospital via emergency run
- the victim was pronounced deceased in hospital
- the suspect(s) fled the scene prior to police arrival
The victim has been identified as Jahvai Roy, 8, of Toronto. An image has been released by police.
This is Toronto’s 26th homicide of 2025.

Le Service de police de Toronto informe le public d’une enquête pour homicide.
Le samedi 16 août 2025, vers 0 h 27, la police a répondu à un signalement de coups de feu dans le secteur de Martha Eaton Way et Trethewey Drive.
Selon les informations :
- les agents ont découvert un garçon de 8 ans à l’intérieur de son domicile, atteint par une balle perdue
- des mesures de réanimation ont été entreprises et la victime a été transportée d’urgence à l’hôpital
- l’enfant a été déclaré décédé à l’hôpital
- le ou les suspects avaient fui les lieux avant l’arrivée de la police
La victime a été identifiée comme Jahvai Roy, 8 ans, de Toronto. Une image a été publiée par la police.
Il s’agit du 26e homicide à Toronto en 2025.
