🚨 Tragic Tree-Fall Incident Claims Lives of Mother and Infant – Comox Lake, BC
The Comox Valley RCMP is investigating a tragic incident that occurred near Comox Lake, British Columbia, on July 31, 2025.
At approximately 1:44 p.m. (PDT), frontline officers, along with BC Emergency Health Services and the Cumberland Fire Department, responded to reports of a tree falling on a 26-year-old woman and her 5-month-old child.
Despite the immediate efforts of first responders and bystanders, the young mother was pronounced deceased at the scene. The infant was transported to hospital but sadly did not survive.
The Comox Valley RCMP is working with the BC Coroners Service to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident. At this time, no criminality is suspected.
Out of respect for the family, and due to the sensitive nature of this loss, no further details will be released. Police extend their deepest condolences to all affected, and thank the bystanders who stepped in to help under heartbreaking circumstances.

La GRC de Comox Valley enquête sur un incident tragique survenu près de Comox Lake, en Colombie-Britannique, le 31 juillet 2025.
Vers 13 h 44 (HAP), des agents de première ligne, accompagnés des services de santé d’urgence de la C.-B. et du service d’incendie de Cumberland, ont été dépêchés sur les lieux après qu’un arbre soit tombé sur une femme de 26 ans et son bébé de 5 mois.
Malgré les efforts rapides des premiers intervenants et des témoins, la jeune mère a été déclarée morte sur place. Le nourrisson a été transporté à l’hôpital, mais a malheureusement succumbé à ses blessures.
La GRC de Comox Valley travaille en collaboration avec le BC Coroners Service pour établir les circonstances exactes de l’incident. Selon les premières constatations, aucune action criminelle n’est suspectée.
Par respect pour la famille et compte tenu de la nature sensible de cette tragédie, aucun autre détail ne sera publié. La police offre ses plus sincères condoléances aux proches touchés et remercie les témoins qui sont intervenus dans des circonstances déchirantes.
