🚨 Kimberley RCMP Warn Public to Avoid Ram Creek & Lussier Hot Springs After Multiple Rescues

Kimberley RCMP are urging members of the public to avoid travelling to the Ram Creek and Lussier Hot Springs area following two rescue incidents in just five days.

According to RCMP, both situations involved overdue travellers whose vehicles slid into ditches due to extremely icy backcountry road conditions. With no cell reception in the area, the stranded individuals were forced to remain in their vehicles while concerned family members contacted police to report them missing.

In both incidents, Kimberley Search and Rescue responded and successfully recovered the travellers. These rescues required significant resources, including helicopter support and multiple SAR teams.

RCMP say these types of calls place considerable strain on emergency services and are asking the public to carefully consider the risks before attempting to access the hot springs during current conditions.

Kimberley RCMP also expressed appreciation to Kimberley Search and Rescue for repeatedly answering the call to assist stranded travellers.

β€œPlease consider the risks associated with trying to drive to the hot springs, as we once again encourage people to avoid these areas with the icy conditions in the backcountry,” said Sgt. D. Biggs, Detachment Commander, Kimberley RCMP.
