🚨 Fatal Train-Pedestrian Collision in Sudbury – Woman, 41, Pronounced Deceased on Scene
At approximately 6:50 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, officers from the Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) responded to a tragic collision involving a train and a pedestrian on Harry Crescent, off Howey Drive.
Upon arrival, Patrol Operations officers located a 41-year-old woman who had sustained fatal injuries. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. In accordance with the family’s wishes, her identity will not be released. Police extended their deepest condolences to her loved ones during this time of grief.
After the initial response, the GSPS Integrated Traffic Safety Unit (ITSU) and Major Crime Section Detectives took over the investigation. Authorities are working in coordination with the Coroner’s Office and have confirmed that no criminality or foul play is suspected at this time.
The roadway was closed for roughly three and a half hours to allow emergency services to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure public safety prior to reopening. GSPS thanked local residents and motorists for their patience and cooperation during the disruption.
Appreciation was also extended to Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services and Greater Sudbury Fire Services for their professional and rapid response at the scene.

Vers 6 h 50 le mardi 29 juillet 2025, des agents du Service de police du Grand Sudbury (GSPS) sont intervenus après une collision impliquant un train et un piéton sur le croissant Harry, près de l’avenue Howey.
Les policiers ont rapidement localisé une femme de 41 ans ayant subi des blessures mortelles. Son décès a été constaté sur place. Conformément aux souhaits de la famille, son identité ne sera pas divulguée. La police a exprimé ses sincères condoléances à ses proches.
Par la suite, l’Unité intégrée de la sécurité routière (ITSU) du GSPS ainsi que les enquêteurs de la Section des crimes majeurs ont pris en charge l’enquête. Le GSPS collabore avec le bureau du coroner, et aucun acte criminel ni jeu suspect n’est soupçonné pour le moment.
La route a été fermée pendant environ trois heures et demie afin de permettre une enquête approfondie et d’assurer la sécurité publique avant la réouverture. La police remercie les résidents et les automobilistes pour leur patience et leur coopération.
Le GSPS a également remercié les Services paramédicaux et les Services d’incendie du Grand Sudbury pour leur intervention rapide et professionnelle sur les lieux.
